Sturm Heads to Hospital After Taking Puck to Head in Wild Victory
Minnesota forward leaves ice with assistance following first-period incident in 4-2 win, echoing concerns from earlier team injury

· 1 min read

The incident happened in the first period when a slap shot from teammate Jared Spurgeon hit the right side of his helmet. Sturm dropped to the ice and received attention from medical staff before skating off slowly with help.
Sturm had been playing left wing on the fourth line. Coach John Hynes offered no immediate update on his status and indicated Sturm was unlikely to join the team for Tuesday's game in Winnipeg. The team is already dealing with several absences, including Brock Faber who remains out indefinitely following a similar puck-related injury in the preseason that caused a skull fracture.
The Wild have started the season 4-1-1 despite the setbacks, which also include injuries to Marcus Foligno and Nick Foligno plus ongoing recovery for Filip Gustavsson after hip surgery. Faber visited the team at the rink on Monday and has shown good progress ahead of another evaluation.
