DUI charge filed
Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks faces a driving-under-the-influence charge filed Monday in connection with his March arrest in Scottsdale, Arizona, court records show. Brooks, 30, is scheduled for arraignment on Oct. 28. The charge is a Class 1 misdemeanor and follows a traffic stop by Scottsdale police around 1 a.m. On March 6. Suns senior vice president of communications Stacey Mitch said the organization had addressed the March incident with Brooks and would not comment further.
Separate case approaching trial
Brooks also has a separate misdemeanor case involving reckless driving and speeding pending in Scottsdale. That matter stems from January and is progressing toward trial, with a trial readiness conference scheduled for Nov. 9. The January case is distinct from the DUI charge tied to the March traffic stop.
Brooks entering another season with Phoenix
The legal proceedings come as Brooks prepares for his 10th NBA season. He agreed to a three-year, $73 million extension running through 2029-30 after posting a career-best scoring average of 20.2 points last season. Across his career with the Memphis Grizzlies, Houston Rockets and Suns, Brooks has averaged 14.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists.
