From New York Roots to Tampa Loyalty
The New Jersey native grew up attending games at Yankee Stadium, the Polo Grounds and Ebbets Field and counted Mickey Mantle, Duke Snider and Willie Mays among the players he watched. After moving to Florida, he embraced the expansion Rays ahead of their first season in 1998 and has held season tickets ever since, extending the same loyalty to the area's other teams.
Active Support Through the Postseason
Vitale has followed every one of the nine postseason games with social-media posts, totaling 32 since the playoff run began. The American League pennant-clinching victory alone drew six messages from the longtime supporter, who sits near the visitors' dugout at Tropicana Field.
World Series Outlook
With the Rays set to host Milwaukee in the championship series, Vitale said he will be in the stands for all home games and expects Tampa Bay to prevail in seven.
