Contract Structure
Brandin Podziemski has agreed to a five-year, $110 million extension that begins next season and includes a mutual option in the final year along with a trade kicker. The 23-year-old will earn $5.6 million in the final year of his rookie deal before the new contract starts at $18.9 million. Subsequent seasons rise to $20.4 million, $22 million and $23.5 million, ending with a $25 million mutual option. The first-year salary reduces the projected cap hold by $1.9 million compared with restricted free agency.
Performance and Durability
Podziemski, selected 19th overall in the 2023 draft, appeared in all 82 games last season and posted career highs of 13.8 points per game along with increases in made threes, assists and steals. He has averaged more than five rebounds per game in each of his three seasons and ranks among the top three players in charges drawn since entering the league. The Warriors won his minutes by 264 points as a rookie and by 261 points in his second season.
Team Context
The extension allows the Warriors to maintain between $55 million and $60 million in projected cap space. Kristaps Porzingis carries a $3 million guarantee on his $20 million salary and remains out indefinitely. Podziemski enters his fourth season as the starting shooting guard and provides consistent availability on a roster missing multiple front-line players.
