Historic Upsets Reshape Top 25

Week 7 produced the most losses for AP top 25 teams in poll history. Five of seven ranked sides fell, including No. 1 Georgia on a walk-off field goal to Auburn in a 27-24 home defeat. The Bulldogs committed three personal fouls and multiple turnovers. Texas dropped its second straight contest, while Alabama suffered back-to-back losses for the first time since 2007. Ohio State handed Indiana its first defeat in 22 games by a 19-15 score despite losing its starting quarterback.

Quarterback Changes and Freshman Debuts

Ohio State will turn to true freshman Luke Fahey after Julian Sayin suffered a throwing shoulder injury. Fahey, a 5-foot-11 passer who threw for more than 7,000 yards in high school, will lead the offense following the bye week. Michigan relied on backup Tommy Carr to secure a win, while Notre Dame's CJ Carr struggled in a loss to BYU. Oregon turned to Dylan Raiola off the bench to rally past Nebraska.

Strong Starts for New Coaches and Big 12

First-year coaches Bob Chesney at UCLA and others guided their teams to key victories. UCLA defeated Wisconsin 17-7 behind 264 passing yards from Ty Dieffenbach. Ole Miss limited Missouri to 39 rushing yards in a 31-3 win. Texas Tech routed Arizona State 53-25, scoring on seven straight drives. The Big 12 positioned itself for multiple playoff teams after several signature wins.
