The New York Yankees have agreed to terms with Brian Cashman on a new contract that will keep him in the general manager role he has held since 1998. At 59 years old, Cashman is the longest-serving general manager in franchise history and has guided the club through 29 seasons.
Record of Success
The Yankees have recorded a winning mark in every season under Cashman. The team captured four World Series titles and 15 American League East crowns during his tenure. The club has not won a championship since 2009, and its current run of 13 consecutive playoff appearances without a title stands as tied for the fourth-longest such streak in major league history.
Latest Season and Front-Office Moves
This year the Yankees finished 93-68, marking the third straight campaign with at least 90 victories. The club placed second in the AL East behind the Tampa Bay Rays, who swept New York in the division series. Earlier this week the team also finalized plans for manager Aaron Boone to return for a 10th season.
