Commitment to Arizona
Cardinals safety Budda Baker has made clear he wants to stay with the team as the trade deadline approaches. The 30-year-old has spent his entire career in Arizona across 10 seasons and has not asked to be moved or to avoid a trade. He plans to focus on the present and help the club secure victories while controlling only what he can.
Pro Bowl Career and Recent Form
Baker earned Pro Bowl honors in eight of his first nine seasons, including seven straight at safety after a rookie nod on special teams. He has topped 100 tackles in six of those nine years and is on pace for a seventh such season. His career totals include nine interceptions and 13.5 sacks.
Contract Situation and Business Realities
Now in the second season of a three-year extension that runs through 2027, Baker is set to earn 16.17 million dollars this season. He recognizes the NFL operates as a business where the deadline allows clubs to acquire talent, yet he continues to emphasize playing at a high level and taking each week as it comes.
