Emery Seeks Villa Park Turnaround Against Fenerbahce
Aston Villa manager targets first home win of the season in Champions League clash with Turkish side

Unai Emery wants his Aston Villa side to rediscover their home strength when they face Fenerbahce in the Champions League. The team's strong record at Villa Park has supported their rise back into the European Cup for the second time in three years. Yet this season they have lost two and drawn one of their opening three home matches, partly because the North Stand redevelopment for Euro 2028 means the ground now has only three stands and a changed atmosphere.
Injuries Add Pressure Ahead of Match
Injuries have contributed to an uneven start and the latest setback arrived in the 2-2 draw with Brentford, where Matteo Ruggeri left at half-time. Ian Maatsen remains unavailable at left-back, while George Hemmings will also miss out. Leon Goretzka is in line for a first appearance after recovering from a knee injury. Brian Madjo and Taylor Harwood-Bellis cannot be selected as they are not in the Champions League squad.
Emery Focuses on Solutions and Improvement
He stressed the need to improve results at home after no wins so far this season. Ruggeri is expected to be out for more than one month, while Maatsen could return in a few days or within one week or two weeks. Goretzka is available for the match, and Hemmings may be ready by Saturday.
