Pushback on Job Talk
Cesc Fàbregas declined to address any notion that he might step in for Michael Carrick at Manchester United, describing the line of questioning as lacking respect for a respected former player now leading the team. The pair will meet when Como hosts United on Wednesday in the Champions League.
Pressure on Carrick
Carrick faces scrutiny after a stretch of six games without a victory. United arrive in Italy with only two wins across the entire season and no success in any competition for more than a month. Fàbregas instead highlighted the club's stature and noted the progress made last year in returning to the Champions League.
Como's Form and Respect
Como sits fifth in Serie A and prepared for the fixture with a 3-1 result against Fiorentina. Fàbregas spoke of the honor in hosting United for the first time in the club's history while acknowledging his familiarity with staff member Steve Holland from earlier work together and the broader regard for what Carrick has achieved.
