Edmunds Season-Ending Injury
New York Giants middle linebacker Tremaine Edmunds suffered a torn chest muscle and will miss the rest of the season. The 28-year-old had signed a three-year, $36 million deal in the offseason. Through six games he led the team with 50 tackles and was tied for the team lead with two sacks. Edmunds had been a leader on the defense, serving on the leadership council and wearing the green dot to make defensive calls. He was injured on one of the final plays of a 34-27 loss to the Saints.
McFadden Steps Into Starting Role
Veteran Micah McFadden will move into the middle of the defense and is expected to wear the green dot while communicating with defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson. The Giants have viewed Edmunds, Arvell Reese and McFadden as three starting middle linebackers. McFadden has started 36 games in his career and will start on Sunday against the Houston Texans.
Additional Roster Updates
Outside linebacker Chauncey Golston was placed on injured reserve earlier this month with a neck injury and will also miss the remainder of the season. Cornerback Paulson Adebo is expected to return from a knee injury. Starting offensive tackles Andrew Thomas (groin) and Jermaine Eluemunor (calf) are listed as questionable but should have a good chance to play. The Giants enter the matchup at 3-2-1.
