Stadium Show Highlights Athletic Themes
Jay-Z heads to SoFi Stadium this weekend with a set full of hits that include numerous sports references.
Standout Lines From the Rankings
References include a shout to the ESPYS and a nod to Jeff Gordon that carries a double meaning about returning to the spotlight. Another draws from a trip to watch a heavyweight fight in Las Vegas, while a track featuring Too $hort defends a star player against critics during the playoffs. A classic verse mentions a scrambling quarterback known for big plays with the Eagles and Vikings.
More Memorable Sports Ties
Additional entries highlight a voice role tied to a marketing figure, a tribute to a Yankees closer on a remix, and a freestyle that compares an opponent to a lesser-known player. One line took years for listeners to decode as a reference to a famous photo of two Lakers teammates. The list closes with a comparison to a famous draft choice that underscores Jay-Z's status among peers.
