Fishlock makes Reign history
Her opener came in the 23rd minute after she recovered possession high up the field and finished from long range. That brought her career total to 51 goals, level with Megan Rapinoe. Fishlock then moved ahead with her 52nd, finding the net from outside the penalty area again in the 64th minute. The milestone adds another chapter to Fishlock’s long Seattle career, which began with the NWSL’s inaugural season in 2013.
Seattle climbs as Boston exits playoff race
Claudia Dickey backed up Fishlock’s attacking performance with seven saves, recording her seventh clean sheet of the season. Seattle has now earned five shutout victories at Lumen Field this season. The result moved the Reign into sixth place with four games remaining. Boston, meanwhile, was eliminated from playoff contention. The Legacy had scored in 13 consecutive games before Friday, last being shut out on May 30.
Gotham and San Diego maintain their positions
First-place Gotham FC defeated the Chicago Stars 3-1 behind a Jaedyn Shaw brace and a Sam Kerr goal. Kerr supplied Shaw’s opener before scoring with a header, while Rose Lavelle set up Shaw’s second. Tessa Dellarose scored late for Chicago, which suffered its fifth straight defeat. Gia Corley opened the scoring from a Lia Godfrey pass, and Ludmila added a rebound finish. Sandra Paños made one save for her third clean sheet of the season. Louisville’s sixth consecutive loss ended its playoff hopes.
