Martínez Targets Club Leadership
Lisandro Martínez accused Manchester United of lacking ambition and questioned the club's summer recruitment after a 2-0 Champions League defeat. The defender directed criticism at director of football Jason Wilcox and the board during the team's worst league start since 1986. He later issued a statement on social media in an attempt to ease tensions.
Keane Highlights Ongoing Chaos
Roy Keane said the remarks reflected deeper problems at the club, describing the situation as chaotic from the top down. He noted a lack of unity and pointed to past issues around managerial decisions, suggesting the environment feels like a circus and that better options exist both in the squad and among available players.
Neville Questions Standing to Criticise
Gary Neville viewed the comments as an attack on teammates, arguing senior players would be upset at the implication that more signings were needed. He and Keane both raised doubts about Martínez's own form and whether he holds enough standing as a non-senior player to make such remarks, while acknowledging some shared concerns about the club's direction.
