Injury Timeline and Recovery Outlook
Mississippi State quarterback Kamario Taylor sustained a toe injury on Sept. 26 against Missouri. He tried to continue playing in the following games against Alabama on Oct. 3 and Oklahoma on Saturday but was not at full strength and exited both contests early. He sat out the Oct. 17 matchup at LSU. After pushing to return, it became clear that additional rest would not restore his effectiveness, and he re-aggravated the toe in the first quarter against Oklahoma before heading to the injury tent. Taylor has an appointment with a specialist on Tuesday and could undergo surgery as early as Wednesday. He is expected to make a full recovery after the procedure.
Breakout Campaign Cut Short
The 6-foot-4, 230-pound true sophomore guided Mississippi State to a 4-0 record that featured victories at Minnesota, at South Carolina and at home against No. 19 Missouri. He ends his season with 17 passing touchdowns, 1,460 passing yards and a completion rate above 65 percent. Taylor established himself as one of the most dominant players in the country during that stretch.
Future Draft Prospects
Already viewed as one of the most intriguing players eligible for the 2028 NFL draft, Taylor's early production positions him as a potential top selection in that class.
