Injury and Recovery Outlook
Moore sustained the injury in the second quarter against USC on Sept. 26 after a late hit from linebacker Desman Stephens II while attempting to slide. He was taken to Los Angeles General Medical Center for evaluation, though MRI and CT scans were clean. Moore had returned to practice and thrown the ball but never received medical clearance for game action.
Offense Without Moore
The Ducks have scored fewer than 20 points in each of the three games Moore missed, including two losses. Backup Dylan Raiola and third-stringer Brock Thomas have started but struggled to establish rhythm. Following a 21-10 loss to Illinois on Sunday, offensive coordinator Drew Mehringer was fired. Offensive analyst and quarterbacks coach Jay Johnson, in his first year with the team and coaching in college since 1994, will take over playcalling duties.
Moore's Career Path
Moore began his career at UCLA, where he started as a freshman and threw for 1,610 yards with nine touchdowns and 11 interceptions across the first six games of the 2023 season. He transferred to Oregon and sat behind Dillon Gabriel in 2024 before starting in 2025, when the Ducks finished 13-2. That year he threw for 3,565 yards at a 71% completion rate with 30 touchdowns. Before the injury this season he completed 69.7% of passes for 926 yards and nine touchdowns with zero interceptions across four games.
