Injury Details Emerge
Packers linebacker Zaire Franklin is managing a hairline fracture in his leg after sustaining what the team initially described as a shin injury during practice. He sat out the recent loss to the Detroit Lions. Separately, center Sean Rhyan is believed to be dealing with a high-ankle sprain. Head coach Matt LaFleur indicated Friday that Franklin is not expected to land on injured reserve, which would limit his absence to fewer than four games.
Franklin's Role This Season
In his first year with the Packers following an offseason trade from the Colts, the ninth-year veteran earned the role of defensive captain. He also serves as the signal-caller for the unit. Franklin has contributed 41 tackles, which ranks third on the team, along with two quarterback hits, a forced fumble and a pass breakup.
Upcoming Schedule
Green Bay is scheduled to host the Carolina Panthers on Thursday night in its next game.
