Scheduling Shift for Game 6
Game 6 of the WNBA Finals featuring the Dream and Valkyries is set for Thursday at 12:30 p.m. ET. The contest will take place at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. The Atlanta Hawks and Cleveland Cavaliers game that evening has been moved to 8:00 p.m. ET to fit the doubleheader.
Venue Capacity and Prior Adjustments
State Farm Arena holds 17,000 seats. All three WNBA Finals games hosted in Atlanta have involved quick changes to the arena schedule. Coordination among the WNBA, NBA, Hawks, State Farm Arena, Dream, Valkyries and broadcast partners made the latest arrangement possible. The earlier start prevents the potential championship contest from occurring at the Dream home arena.
Options Considered for Later Dates
An alternative plan under review would have shifted Game 6 to an open date at State Farm Arena on Friday. Game 7 would then move to an open date at Chase Center in San Francisco on Tuesday, November 3. The chosen schedule instead keeps open the possibility of Game 7 on Halloween at Chase Center.
