Memphis Starts Strong

The Grizzlies opened with three straight wins, their best start since the 2017-18 season. Guard Ty Jerome scored 45, 28 and 31 points in those games for a total of 104. Rookie Cameron Boozer became only the fifth player in league history to post at least 10 rebounds and four assists in his first three contests. The team leads the league in offensive rebound percentage, ranks second in offensive rebounds and sits third in second-chance points.

Title Defenders Struggle

The New York Knicks fell to 0-3 after losses to Philadelphia, Boston and Orlando. Mikal Bridges is averaging 3.3 points on 22 percent shooting. The San Antonio Spurs also opened with two defeats, including a game in which Victor Wembanyama shot 1-of-13 against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Spurs recorded their first victory against the Dallas Mavericks.

Standout Performances and Setbacks

Luka Doncic scored 52 points against the Utah Jazz as the Los Angeles Lakers improved to 3-0. The winless Sacramento Kings have seen one player average 29 points per game. Top scorers through the week include players averaging 28.8 and 28.7 points. Several players, including Jalen Williams, were sidelined by injuries during the opening week.
