Rookie Sets Early Pace
Golden State improved to 1-3 behind a fourth-game outburst from Yaxel Lendeborg that included 31 points, 12 rebounds and six assists. The 24-year-old forward scored 15 of his points by halftime and finished with 13 free-throw attempts while the Warriors built a four-point lead. Through four contests he has 87 points, the highest total for any Warriors rookie in that span since 1959. The team entered as seven-point underdogs after an 0-3 start but controlled the contest from the opening tip.
Curry Stays Efficient in Limited Role
Stephen Curry attempted just one shot in the first half yet the Warriors still led at the break thanks in part to six three-pointers from the bench. Curry then made all seven of his second-half attempts and finished with 24 points on perfect 8-of-8 shooting. Golden State outscored Denver by 13 points during the 21 minutes Curry rested and by seven points across his 27 minutes on the floor. Brandin Podziemski added 18 points, seven rebounds and five assists in the same contest.
Late Surge Seals Outcome
Lendeborg missed seven of his eight three-point tries but dominated inside with repeated drives and finished with 31 free-throw attempts in four games, seventh-most in the league. Denver fell to 1-2 after the defeat while the Warriors closed the game without Curry or Draymond Green on the floor.
