Injury Update
Anthony Edwards will have an arthroscopic procedure performed on his right knee. The step will keep the Timberwolves guard out for up to two months. He had been listed as questionable ahead of a recent road contest but was cleared after warmups and took the floor anyway.
Strong Opening Stretch
Through the first four games Edwards averaged 33.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists while shooting 48 percent from the field. Those figures placed him second in scoring behind only Luka Doncic at 34.3 points per game. In one outing he logged a season-high 41 minutes and finished with 47 points during a 127-125 overtime result. He reached the 45-point mark for the second time already this season, becoming the fourth player in league history to post multiple such games inside a team's first four contests.
Prior Knee Management and Team Record
The current issue involves the same leg that gave Edwards trouble with runner's knee a year ago. He sat out nine of the final 22 regular-season games while dealing with that problem and later hyperextended his left knee in the playoffs. Last season overall he missed 21 games, the highest total of his career, yet the Timberwolves finished 12-9 in those contests. The club opened the current year at 3-1 and is scheduled to host the Golden State Warriors next.
