Jacobs Set for 2026 Debut
Green Bay added running back Josh Jacobs to its active roster from exempt status on Saturday, clearing the way for his first game of the 2026 season against the Detroit Lions. The NFL removed him from the exempt list on Monday following an initial six-week period that kept him off the field.
Ongoing Investigation and Prior Record
The league's review of Jacobs for possible personal conduct policy violations continues after his arrest earlier this year on misdemeanor battery and misdemeanor destruction of property charges. Any suspension handed down could match or exceed the six games already missed, with those contests credited toward the total. Jacobs entered a no contest plea on Sept. 10 to the charges stemming from the May 23 incident at his home near Green Bay, resulting in a battery conviction and a $1,000 fine along with a deferred judgment agreement on the property damage count.
Rushing Woes and Additional Moves
The Packers have posted the NFL's lowest rushing average without Jacobs at 59.8 yards per game. He led the team in rushing over the prior two seasons, finishing eighth league-wide with 2,258 combined rushing yards and tied for fourth with 28 rushing touchdowns across 2024 and 2025. Green Bay also promoted wide receiver and kick returner Coleman Owen from the practice squad to the active roster, elevated edge rusher Arron Mosby for game day, and activated defensive tackle Jordon Riley from the physically unable to perform list.
