Criticism After Champions League Defeat
Wayne Rooney has sharply criticized Manchester United players for their conduct following the 4-1 loss at Como in the Champions League. He singled out Bruno Fernandes and Lisandro Martínez for post-match remarks that he believes damage the group. Rooney argued that such comments start a pattern where individuals avoid facing their own shortcomings and instead point fingers at the manager or staff.
Demand for Greater Accountability
The former captain stressed that players must take ownership on the field and support the team as a unit. He described the behavior as selfish, noting it shows little regard for teammates, the coaching staff or supporters. Rooney added that the squad needs to reflect honestly on their performances, particularly during a tough stretch for Fernandes, rather than deflecting attention toward others.
