Top of the Poll Holds Steady at No. 1
Miami remained the lone team to keep its position at No. 1 after routing Pitt 52-23. The team collected 59 of the 70 first-place votes. Idle Ohio State climbed to No. 2, Georgia advanced one spot to No. 3, Indiana rose two places to No. 4 following its overtime win at Michigan, and Notre Dame fell one spot to No. 5. Utah, UCLA, BYU, Kentucky and Alabama completed the top 10.
Major Reordering After Weekend Losses
BYU fell six spots to No. 8 after its loss at UCF. Three additional top-10 teams lost, bringing the total to 10 defeats among the top 10 over three weeks and matching the mark set in 2007 and 1959. Three teams ranked No. 1 or 2 have now lost to unranked opponents in that span. Miami, Utah and UCLA are the only unbeaten FBS teams left, the fewest at this stage since 1977. Utah posted its highest ranking in seven years, UCLA reached its highest mark in 11 years, Kentucky returned to the top 10 for the first time since 2022, and Alabama reentered after beating Texas A&M.
Conference Representation and Other Movers
The SEC placed nine teams in the poll, the Big 12 matched its record with six, the Big Ten has five, the ACC has three, the Pac-12 has one and there is one independent. Oklahoma State returned at No. 24 after a 57-24 win over Colorado. Wisconsin entered at No. 25 following a 24-7 victory over USC. Iowa dropped out after a 13-10 loss at Minnesota.
